Even though 2014 is not quite over, this has been a big year for advertising. Thanks to the World Cup, a true lesson in what it means to be globally engaging, with commercials that ran during the World Cup being shared the most times on each of these lists.

Ad Week put out two lists this year, one of the best ads from midway through the year, and then again recently to include the whole year.

Shakira and Activa (advocating on behalf of the World Food Programme) grabbed the top spot on both of these lists, with her video for the World Cup being shared more than five million times, and according to YouTube, her video was watched over 414 million times.
